Head, Business Development (Healthcare)

Reporting to: CEO Location: Lagos, Nigeria

Direct: All Business Development, Marketing and Commercial Staff

1.   PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY

The objective of this role is to conceptualize, formulate, plan and facilitate execution of the organization’s marketing strategies, plans and programmes, manage brand to achieve the organisation’s financial (revenues, costs, returns and control) and customer targets (product/services, market share and brands).

2.   KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • Formulate and implement business strategy and goals in liaison with the management team
  • Lead and manage the business development team, developing and aligning strategic marketing plans for business in line with the Hospital’s goals.
  • Defining the marketing execution strategy in terms of packages, pricing, promotions and performance in line with the strategic plan.
  • Understanding and assessing market potential for key untapped markets and strategizing for brand growth.
  • Collecting market intelligence on customer expectations and competitor activities to develop knowledge and expertise on needs, trends and emerging market issues, including regulatory and economic dynamics.
  • Developing and implementing branding initiatives in order to build relationships with channel partners and consumer loyalty initiatives to enhance brand equity and drive growth.
  • Enhancing customer satisfaction and building emotional (brand) connection through targeted communication and planned initiatives.
  • Benchmarking against best-in-class parameters to develop and align marketing infrastructure and processes in line with the Hospital’s goals.
  • Continuously monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of marketing communication, brand strength and customer satisfaction and proposing course corrections plans, where necessary.
  • Providing brand consultancy to internal business units to ensure effective deployment of marketing plans across the Hospitals.
  • Developing and managing the brand tools and guidelines used by the hospital and their functions.

3.  MEASURES

  • Target achievement in terms of brand outreach, value, volume and contribution.
  • % revenue growth (including from new segments/markets).
  • Market share growth – focus markets.
  • Completion of analysis of competition on price, performance, terms and availability within timelines.
  • Number of successful branding initiatives and their effectiveness.
  • Revenue per existing customer/business partner.

4.  TECHNICAL SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Degree / MBA with knowledge in Brand Marketing and Communication
  • 15 years of relevant experience, including experience in management of marketing functions and business development in the healthcare sector with strong networks
  • Strong leadership, managerial, analytical and research skills
  • Excellent presentation, written and oral communication skills, skilled negotiator
  • Experience in creating marketing materials such as presentations, proposals, brochures, press releases, working with the media and advertising publications, etc.
  • Experience in conducting marketing research and analysis to determine benchmarks for each target market.
  • Experience in maintaining a marketing budget.
  • Knowledge of market, customers, sector-wise trends and market research tools and techniques.
